OPENROAD 13,500 lbs Electric Winch with Synthetic Rope
When you’re deep off-road and facing a tough recovery, you need a winch you can count on. The OPENROAD 13,500 lbs Electric Winch is engineered for serious performance, combining raw pulling power with modern safety and convenience features. Designed for 4x4s, Jeeps, trucks, and SUVs, this winch is a reliable partner for any overland or off-road adventure.
Core Power and Performance
At the heart of this winch is a powerful 6.0 HP series-wound motor, built to deliver high torque and fast line speeds under load. This is paired with a robust 3-stage planetary gear system with a 265:1 gear ratio. This combination efficiently multiplies the motor’s power, giving you the 13,500 pounds of pulling capacity needed to get your vehicle out of mud, sand, or steep inclines.
Advanced Synthetic Rope
Forget the dangers and weight of traditional steel cable. This winch comes pre-spooled with a 95-foot synthetic rope, which is significantly stronger, lighter, and safer.
- Lightweight & Easy to Handle: It floats, doesn’t kink, and won’t develop sharp burrs or “fish hooks” like steel cable.
- Safer Recovery: Synthetic rope stores far less kinetic energy. In the unlikely event of a break, it won’t whip back with the same lethal force as steel, dramatically reducing the risk of injury or vehicle damage.
- High Strength: Despite its low weight, this rope provides the full tensile strength needed for heavy-duty recoveries.
Dual-Control System for Any Situation
The OPENROAD winch offers ultimate flexibility with its dual-control system. You get a traditional corded remote with a 12-foot lead, allowing you to operate the winch safely from the driver’s seat. For more complex recoveries where you need to be out of the vehicle, the included 2-in-1 wireless remote lets you control the winch from a safe distance of up to 100 feet.
Built for the Elements
Off-roading means facing the elements, and this winch is ready. It features an IP67 waterproof rating, meaning the control box and motor are sealed against dust, mud, water, and snow. Whether you’re in a downpour or a deep water crossing, you can trust your recovery gear to work when you need it most.
Key Features at a Glance:
- Massive Pulling Power: 13,500 lbs (6,123 kg) rated line pull for heavy vehicle recovery.
- High-Output Motor: 6.0 HP (4.5kW) 12V DC series-wound motor.

Just as good as the more expensive brands.
More affordable than other winches. I have had the opportunity to use it about 6 times in the past 2 months. It has performed as well as the more expensive brands, and I was able to winch a Jeep off a precarious angle without issue or hesitation. Relatively easy to install if you read the directions. It fit onto my steel bumper without issue.

Quality product and very reasonable price.
Easy install and fits perfectly on the Rough Country winch plate. The two remotes are also a plus.

Seems like a great winch for the price. Fits my 2004 Jeep TJ. Didn’t meet to do any fabrication to get it on, no instructions, basically plug and play. Got a $7 cover for it also. Paid $319 on a deal, couldn’t be happier with the 2 remotes and corded one also, wires were long(just) enough

Excellent price, quality and value
I bought this for my Gladiator. I had a Rough Country on the jeep I sold and I loved that one but it looked like it was discontinued. I did a lot of research and ended up getting this one because of the remote control was both wireless and wired. Not many seem to have this dual option. I absolutely love this winch and it is better than the one I used to have. Excellent quality and functionality. I’ve had it for about 6 months now and have moved boulders and pulled stumps. I couldn’t be happier with it. Excellent quality and value.

JKU direct replacement for Rough Country 8,500 lb
Just installed it, so haven’t put it under serious load. Install is easy, even for a slow poke like me: just four bolts and two cables. Fit is perfect as a replacement for a Rough Country 8,500 lb one that finally gave up the ghost. Went into the aftermarket bumber with bulit in winch mount just fine, no extra drilling. So, the bolt holes must be of a standard layout. The remotes, extra power, and non-steel line are plusses. Shipping was super fast.I agree with others that instead if a branded cap they should ship this winch with a cover!

Good winch. Difficult to mount if hidden.
Good winch. Haven’t truly tested it but it worked well on the small things. They need to sell a control box extension for vehicles that have an internal mount system. 2017 Ram Also would like a flexible extended engagement handle for the same reason. The wireless controllers need to be easier to connect.

Great buy!
Thing is clean, install easy, too came off so you can move electric (some rewiring may be necc pending where you want it)Fit in my bumper that said 12k spacing. The gears/unit was not tightened all the way so it was freespinning if you gave it any resistance. Luckily, J wanted to rotate the head so I could grab freespool with ease through my bumper so once I rotated that (great option btw) I tightened it down and it worked properly. 100% 5star on price, low noise, and excellent fit.

Nice quality
I am impressed with the build quality and how well finished the Winch is. I did not expect this level of quality in a Winch of this price. I will be pretensioning the synthetic line this weekend, I forgot to mention that the Winch comes with 85’ of synthetic line and a standard hook and well finished fairlead. All of the metal pieces seem to be professionally powder coated, nice touch. My only recommendation is to use a loom or other sheathing material to cover the positive cable from the winch to the battery. I would also recommend adding a battery disconnect that you will have to buy separately.Again, I have no complaints and am impressed with this 13,500 lbds winch.

Pretty awesome!! But…
I had a traveled 6k winch. Lasted me 4 months with multiple use per week. So I got this one and this thing is awesome. The remote worked great. Winch is strong. It looks awesome. The only reason for 4 stars is because the could at least provide a template so it would make drilling holes much easier. I had to redrill 2 holes. But other than that. It’s flawless.

Same as other winches you pay double for!!
used this to pull a pick up truck up onto a trailer and it worked great. The wireless remote was really easy to set up as well. I would buy this product again.
